DJI (Dà-Jiāng Innovations) has recently launched its new action camera, the Osmo Action 4. Known for their civilian drones and innovative camera technology, the new Osmo Action 4 leaves much to be excited for.

The camera has a 1/1.3″ image sensor, wide f/2.8 aperture, and 2.4μm-equivalent pixel size enabling it to shoot 4K/120fps. It also provides a 155° ultra-wide FOV (field of view) that allows the user to capture detailed shots even in low light. It has also been equipped with a series of stabilisation modes like RockSteady 3.0/3.0+ for FPV (first person view) footage and HorizonBalancing or HorizonSteady for horizontal shots. Its digital zoom with the ability of zooming up to 2x can be adjusted while recording for desired image composition. The camera also has the ability to provide over one-billion colours in a wider range, owing to its new 10-bit D-log M colour mode, thus making the post-production process more dynamic and interesting with all the possibilities. The advanced colour temperature sensor ensures that the tones are true to reality, regardless of shooting indoors, outdoors or even under-water, making the colours vibrant. The Upgraded InvisiStick function also recognises and digitally hides the selfie stick from the shots, thus providing a more aesthetic experience.Owing to all its new features, it strikes a good balance between image quality and camera flexibility.
Aside from its range of technical features, a plus point of the Osmo Action 4 is its ultra-long battery life. The battery is designed to last 2 and a half hours of continuous filming with only an 18 minute charging period in order to bring the battery up to 80%. The battery is also built to withstand temperatures as low as -20°C with up to 150 minutes of recording time, owing to its freeze-resistant design. The camera can withstand depths of up to 18 metres without a case, allowing easy operation, even with wet hands. The touchscreens have been built to be dual water and stain resistant, thus easing the process of making parameter adjustments, mode switching or video playback. Its durability makes it ideal for travel and outdoor adventure shoots.
Osmo Action 4’s magnetic quick-release design allows the user to intuitively switch between setups. The Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame feature effortlessly films vertical footage without cropping or sacrificing the quality of the recording. Furthermore, its customisable modes and Quick Switch button provide for seamless transition between shooting modes. It is equipped with Voice Prompts as well as Voice Control, allowing hands-free usage.The SnapShot feature that allows the user to take photos in order to never miss any moment while recording. It also has the ability to save and access frequently used settings, making it user-friendly and convenient to use.
The action camera boasts a variety of recording options, making it possible to capture good quality audio in a variety of environments. It has three built-in microphones and an advanced wind-noise reduction software as well as external connection support for expanding the recording options. Its ability to connect to Wi-Fi allows an easy transmission to a live streaming, however an external power supply may be necessary to ensure a longer, uninterrupted broadcast.
