Hasselblad’s new XCD 4/28p is a lightweight, wide angle lens, built to be ideal for street photography. It is an addition to the V Series of the XCD lens series that consist of lenses that focus more on optical and control experience unlike its P series counterparts that focus on being small and light and optimal for daily use.
Its 22mm focal length and aperture of f/4 makes it handy while capturing a variety of scenes including scenes from nature, but especially those of city streets and urban architecture. It has been designed in a portable manner, measuring only 43.5mm in length and weighing only 245g, making it the lightest and smallest lens in the Hasselblad X family.
The lens incorporates nine elements in eight groups within its optical structure. This includes two aspherical elements and an ED element that suppresses chromatic dispersion while still ensuring good image quality. Despite its compact size, the lens archives a resolution of 100 million pixels, thus capturing sharp images with high precision and resolution, right from the centre to the edges and providing good image quality throughout the frame.
The XCD 4/28p has also been equipped with a minimum focusing distance of 22cm and a 1:6 magnification, providing for better quality close ups. Its linear stepping motor paired with a lighter and smaller focusing lens group, when amplified with the PDAF technology of the X2D 100C, can quicken the time taken to achieve the positioning of the focus and a precise stop. The lens’ leaf shutter can support flash synchronisation up to 1/4000s at all shutter speeds.
The Hasselblad XCD 4/28p is available for €1,899 including sales tax and $1679 excluding sales tax on the Hasselblad website.
