Tamron has just unveiled an exciting development in the photography world – the 17-50mm f/4 Di III VXD (Model A068), a wide-angle zoom lens designed specifically for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras.

Anticipated to hit the market this Fall, the lens takes you on a journey from an expansive 17mm ultra wide-angle to a versatile 50mm standard, a unique offering for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Tamron’s 17-50mm f/4 lens for Sony mirrorless cameras is not just about the numbers; it’s a wide-angle zoom with a constant f/4 aperture, ensuring consistent performance across ultra wide-angle to standard focal lengths – an ideal range for both still photography and video recording enthusiasts.

What sets this lens apart is its commitment to delivering exceptional optical performance throughout its zoom range, ensuring edge-to-edge crispness in every shot. The incorporation of the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism adds a layer of sophistication, providing quietness and agility in performance for high-speed and high-precision autofocus. A notable feature is that the physical length of the lens remains constant during zooming, making it a reliable choice for both still photography and video shooting, especially when mounted on a gimbal stabiliser or other equipment.

Photographers and videographers will appreciate the lens’s impressive close-range shooting capabilities, offering a Minimum Object Distance (MOD) of 0.19m (7.5in) at the wide end and 0.3m (11.8in) at the tele end. This allows users to get up close and personal with their subjects, capturing unique and compelling shots in various situations. The 17-50mm f/4 zoom lens is designed to be the perfect “walk around” companion, offering portability and convenience without compromising on quality.

In terms of specifications, this lens covers ultra wide-angle to standard focal lengths at a constant f/4 aperture, ensuring consistent performance in various shooting scenarios. Its compact design makes it easy to handle, and the internal zoom contributes to impeccable balance. The lens supports fast and accurate autofocus for both still and video shooting, catering to the needs of diverse content creators.

Tamron has also considered practical aspects with user-friendly features like Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating. The lens boasts a 67mm filter size, consistent with other Tamron lenses for mirrorless cameras, adding to the convenience for photographers who already own Tamron equipment.

Stay tuned for its official release this Fall!
