Insta360 has released its new X3 Invisible Dive Kit, now allowing users of the X3, a highly renowned and popular choice for action and sport shooting to expand their adventures under water!
Capturing and shooting underwater has been a challenge for all 360 cameras –– the refraction of light underwater makes it especially important for dive cases to ensure seamless stitching. Owing to the refraction, most cases are visible at the bottom of the shot known as the “nadir”, thus interfering with the footage.
The new Invisible Dive Kit completely does away with this problem, providing unobstructed and crystal clear footage and seamless underwater stitching. It has been designed for better light transmission, therefore removing any obstruction in the nadir as well as automatically removing the selfie stick from the frame just like on the land. “What makes this dive case so unique is that it actually hides the selfie stick underwater, making it completely invisible. I can now shoot third-person views of myself in some of the most stunning places on earth,” remarked Rachel Moore, professional underwater photographer.
Just like Moore suggests, with its invisible selfie stick, the X3 can now be used to take seamless third-person shots underwater, thus allowing users to film themselves as well as their surroundings with ease. The X3 shoots 360 videos in 5.7k and photos in 72MP with dual 48MP ½’’ sensors, thus providing excellent image quality, despite being underwater. It allows the users to reframe, which means that it has the ability to shoot 360 videos, thus letting the users choose the best direction to focus the camera on during post-editing via the Insta 360 app. The Insta360 app and Studio also feature AquaVision 2.0, an AI-powered tool that auto-corrects underwater colouring for a more natural-looking image.
The Dive Case allows users to operate the camera even when inside the case
Users can now operate the camera while inside the case with only two buttons due to the new Dive Case mode, thus making it more convenient to use. Its 2.29’’ ultra-bright touchscreen also provides a clear display of the camera interface. Its battery also has the ability to shoot for 80 minutes straight, which is more than the average dive. Additionally, it has also been equipped with the option to pack spares that can be switched out on dry land, thus letting the users shoot longer experiences without worrying about the battery life. Its accessories like the invisible selfie stick and the floating hand grip protect the camera and the case from damage due to accidental drops.
Its dive case has an ultra-sealed structure that has been rigorously tested, resulting in an IPX8 waterproofing index and can go as deep as 50m (164ft). The Insta 360 X3 is already waterproof thus allowing one to record above-water and up to 10m (33ft) in water, even without the case. The Dive Kit’s case has also been designed to be slim and portable, thus making it easy to mount unlike bubble cases. Apart from improved cases that prevent the X3 lens from fogging, the Dive Kit also comes with anti-fog inserts to ensure clarity while shooting. The camera is also equipped with FlowState Stabilisation and a 360° Horizon Lock that keeps the footage stable while shooting in rough conditions or during camera shakes.
